The psychiatric hospital exposure was the key to pursue the nursing profession. It was on my third year in college to prepare our self to engage the psychiatric patients. Bachelor Of Science in Nursing will include the exposure in the psychiatric hospital as part of the curriculum of the nursing school and universities.

The preparation for the exposure was very short. We only have twenty days for the lecture and twenty four days of actual exposure to those mentally ill person. I'm not the one who struggled for the schedule, its very stressful in my part to retain and learn knowledge for a little span of time. I aim to my self that i will pass the psychiatric nursing subject with the help of our Almighty God and the support of my family in financial as well as motional aspect.

For several days passed i was very stressed and feel the agony of being a nursing student. But at the end of the lectures, quizzes and examination every other day a rewarding achievement in my part to passed the subject. Despite of the obstacles and personal weakness in attaining goals in life nothing is impossible to conquer. Believing ones self, identifying weaknesses, have faith, and the spirit of love makes you to become strong in life.

The day has come for the trip to Davao City were the location of the institution that we are having the exposure. The time was already 4am in the morning of a summer days when we leave our place going to Davao City. We arrived in the dormitory almost 10:30 in the morning more or less 6 hours of road trip.

The fist day of affiliation everyone of us feels anxious, nervous and at the same time excited for its our first time to enter a Psychiatric Hospital. During the physical tour in the hospital we expect that it was the ideal one but it was not what we expect. Over all evaluation the hospital will do their best to function in helping the psychotic patient. Even though the hospital wasn't totally equipt in terms of facilities the government, the staff and the hospital administrator do their job to treat mentally ill clients.

The individual client is not safe for the environment some inmate suffered more due to other inmate inside which they quarrel and hitting one another. Most of them will need tender, love, attention and care whom they feel they are alone, no one will help in their problems most often the family members did not visit them after the day of confinement.

I feel sad in their situation that they encounter the disorder. As humans you will never regret them in terms of caring. That is why we are there to help them to enhance their self steem to go on with life. As well as for the personal good to interact with them as part of a nursing profession to deal with different people and differnt health problems.

The journey helps to change my perspective in life that we must live, follow the right path and enjoy life for its the gift from above. We hold our life so we can chose what we want to be in the long run of our way. The journey of a person that god only knew whats the next step is the JOURNEY OF LIFE.
